Specialized in the fixed gear trick scene

Prolly has been doing some digging at Interbike, and something that has cropped up was the manufacturer of the SLUMWORM 26″/29″ fixed trick bike, turns out specialized were behind it. This brought up some mixed feelings for me. On one hand, specialized is bound to progress the current fixed gear trick scene, working with SLUMWORM on 14mm hubs and other BMX/MTB inspired details and components, but also does specialized entering the market mean that there will soon be no room for small companies to compete and hence crush grass roots creativity? I don’t know, we’ll have to see. Of course as a sport grows in popularity as the fixed gear trick thing has bigger players are bound to be drawn towards it so it’s sort of inevitable, and I think that they’ve done it quite well, working with people who know something about the sport. This is interesting
